As promised, here is the inked version from Tueday's post.
And while I'm at it, let me go ahead and remind everyone about the MicroVisions auction, which ends this Saturday.

Wow. Nice piece. Love those folds man. Hey Paolo, do you do ink studies before you jump into the final piece or do you have an image so crystal clear that you can go in with looser pencils? I was just wondering because I've scene pencils from guys like David Finch, Bryan Hitch, etc. and their pencils come out more absolute then yours. Is that because they are penciling for other inkers and you don't have to do that because you ink your own stuff?
ReplyDeleteI actually did ink studies for this page (and most of the pages from this story). Since this was my first inked book, I was very tentative with every move I made.
ReplyDeleteAlso, many of these pencils were cleaned up prior to, or in some cases during, the inking process. As a very general rule, I tighten up around the things that require extra attention, such as faces and hands.
Perhaps I'll post some ink studies next week.
sweet man thanks for the great info
