The Self-Absorbing Man
may i be the first to say wow. just wow.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carlos!
ReplyDeleteCan't say "Wow."
ReplyDeleteZoinks! Great color!
I will gladly accept "Zoinks". Thanks!
ReplyDeletethe face has a great sculptural quality - reminds me of your maquettes you do
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I really love the mix you did between the warm tones and the cold grays on her left arm and chest ,and the white part of his right arm.
ReplyDeletePaulSketch, I painted it "from life," as it were. I've been doing that a lot more lately, since painting from the maquette lends a dimensionality that is tough to create from scratch.
ReplyDeleteJulian, thanks—I wanted to create a more vintage look, so I kept everything very muted. It's nothing but burnt umber, payne's gray, alizarin crimson, and white.
I'm a big cap fan and a big fan of your work (someday, I'll be close enough to a con to get a commission of my own!), and I think this is some of your better work. The muted colors are a nice touch on a character whose costume often lends itself to bright primaries and garishness. :)
ReplyDeletepush the pull door: Thanks. I often wish Cap's colors were more like the flag—navy and deep red—so that's what I try to go for.
ReplyDeleteWow, abosolutely fantastic Paolo!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Josh!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for this truly great piece! Everyone who sees it loves it! Soon as I get it framed I will send you a pic of it in my house! Thanks again, Tim
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it, Tim. Glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of this piece and very jealous that it does not belong to me! Crazy good.
