Well, this got posted on Ain't It Cool News today, so I'm guessing it's okay to show. As you can imagine, I had an awesome time working on it... and I can't wait to the see the movie. I'll do a full tutorial post on the original art at some point (I recorded the entire painting process via time lapse) but in the meantime, here are a couple of early comps that almost were. Have a great weekend!
Awesome! This should be the poster of the movie.. Congratulations for your amazing work.
ReplyDeleteStunning work, I was moaning all day about how I desperately wanted to buy it but I know it's cast and crew only. It should have been the main poster for the movie, seriously. Thanks for sharing a good version of it with us and I can't wait to see the process for this!
ReplyDeletePS: the movie is freaking fantastic, hope you'll like it as much as I did :D
Wow, just incredible! I love it. Great job Paolo!
ReplyDeleteIncredible work ! I'm ready to buy one if you consider selling reproduction :)
ReplyDeleteDude... your work is just perfect. I had to comment just to express my emotion. =D
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I don't know if I liked this one better or your Iron Man 3 poster.
ReplyDeletePLEASEEE scan a higher resolution picture of it! This is absolutely stunning. Been a fan since Daredevil #1 with Waid. Seriously might be your best work so far!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is nice. I would love to see this in person or at a larger size(like as the actual movie poster in the theatres!). Great job here.
ReplyDeleteDamn dude...why aren't they using this?! Fan-fucking-tastic! Yes, please scan a higher resolution.

ReplyDeleteI need to buy it!
ReplyDeleteEmpire Magazine posted this on Twitter and I'm gutted it's not an official release because I would LOVE to own it. Black Widow looks anatomically realistic! For that alone it is a big win for me :)
ReplyDeleteStunning work.
fantastic work!
ReplyDeleteI want to buy this SO bad.
ReplyDeleteThis look exquisite... amazing work from a remarkable artist. I hope you will be selling some prints at a show. I would so love to own this masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind words, everyone! I should've mentioned that yes, this is the poster for the cast & crew. However awesome that may be, it means that I won't have prints to sell. Sorry! I will, however, do an entire post that details its creation. Hopefully in the next couple months... but you've heard me say that before.
ReplyDeleteSo unfortunate, but I understand. Keep up the fantastic work and hope to see you next time when you come to Canada!
Deleteplease tell me how i can own this as a print! i would pay so much to have this as a poster in my house
ReplyDeleteI wish I had better news for you. This is about as limited-edition as it gets. Sorry!
DeleteDo the VFX crew get any?
ReplyDeleteI can't say for sure. I know with the first Cap movie, I saw at least one comment from a guy who said he worked on the movie, but didn't get one. I'm guessing they made only a little over 100, which probably isn't enough.
DeleteI love the way you've used the star in the prelim.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nick! That was the very first prelim I sent in. They even had me do a more finalized version (which I'll share eventually). But ultimately, everybody seemed to like what I called "the crazy option."
DeleteI've been collecting Movie memorabilia for years, mainly movie posters. I'm not rich but i love movies so...And I've got some beauties I'm very proud of. I came across a photo of this poster and started looking everywhere to buy one. So disappointed when I found out they were cast and crew only.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful. Captures that late 60s, early 70s "conspiracy thriller" type look.
They just don't make them like this anymore. Well at least, they didn't.
Gorgeous.
Thanks, Roger!
DeleteI love, love this poster! It's so great that you made Scarlett as large as Cap, considering she was in the movie just as much as him. Glad to see you have a feminist vibe. This is the poster that shouldve been used. it actually tells a story, like movie posters used to. It reminds me of a Drew Struzan. It's fantastic, I would love to own one. You're so talented!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Casey! Struzan is a huge influence on me, but this one was mainly inspired by the work of Robert McGinnis, especially his Man with the Golden Gun poster. I'll eventually do a post and video on the entire process.
DeleteSo... Any word on whether this is being sold as a print or not? Because I've been waiting. And I want it. LOL
ReplyDeleteNope, sorry! Only for the cast & crew. You could always try and ask Chris Evans for his.
DeletePlease. It's been years. Can't you sell it now? It's 2021.... Please?
ReplyDeleteI would kill to have a copy of this in my man cave. Is there anyway I can purchase this? Any size?
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm afraid not. From time to time, I release one of the few copies I have, with the proceeds going to charity. Thank you, though!
