The Twelve #10, Cover. 2011. Gouache and acrylic on bristol board, 11 × 17″. |
Issue #10 of The Twelve will be on shelves this Wednesday. You can see a preview here. And you can see all the wacky reference here. Below is my digital color study for the cover — it was printed out onto the final board as an underpainting of sorts.
Paolo,
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your covers on this series. I find it interesting that you printed the digital color rough onto your board as an underpainting. That's something I haven't tried yet. Did you use something like Krylon spray fixative to fix the underpainting before you painted it? Or a clear acrylic medium?
Thanks!
Chris
Nope, just straight on the board. I don't like fixatives because they hinder the paper's innate, absorbent properties.
